Aims, Ethos & Vision
Our School Vision
Rooted in Love, Flowing Together, Flourishing for Life
At Gainford Church of England Primary School, our vision is at the heart of everything we do. As a small, rural school, we are proud of the strong sense of community that makes Gainford such a special place to learn and grow.
Our vision is inspired by the words of Psalm 1:3:
“Like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in season.”
This beautiful image of a tree, with strong roots nourished by water, reflects what we want for every child who joins our school. We want children to feel secure, valued and loved, while developing the confidence, skills and resilience they need to grow and flourish.
The river is an important part of our vision. It reflects our beautiful rural surroundings and reminds us that life is a journey. Just as a river twists, turns and sometimes meets obstacles along its way, our children will experience different challenges and opportunities as they grow. We want to equip them to navigate these with courage, hope and confidence, while knowing that they are never alone.
Rooted in Love
We want every child to know that they are valued, respected and loved for who they are. Through our Christian foundation, we encourage our children to show kindness and compassion and to care for themselves, others and the world around them.
Flowing Together
We believe that children flourish when they belong to a strong and supportive community. We learn from one another, celebrate our differences and work together as a school, with our families, our Church and our wider community.
Flourishing for Life
We want our children to leave Gainford as confident learners, compassionate friends, responsible citizens and resilient individuals, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges that their future brings.
Our Core Values
Our vision is underpinned by three core values:
LOVE – showing kindness, compassion and care for ourselves, others and God's world.
HOPE – believing in ourselves, looking forward with optimism and having the courage to keep going when things are difficult.
RESPECT – valuing ourselves, others and the world around us and recognising that everyone is unique and important.
These values are woven through school life and are reflected in the way we learn, play, worship, care for one another and celebrate our achievements.
At Gainford, we want every child to develop strong roots, find their place within our community and have the confidence to flourish throughout life.
